“Get every galah in the pet shop talking about the opportunities”
Prof. Rod Sims calls for focus on opportunities for Australia in the energy transition, not the costs of decarbonising the existing economy.
Rod Sims made this headline statement at the Australian Institute of Energy EnergyWeekWA conference yesterday, in response to a question on what we can do to accelerate the energy transition.
Australia is responsible for just over 1% of global emissions directly. But we could drive down 6-9% of global emissions by using our vast renewable resources to decarbonise global industries such as iron production.
Prof. Sims galah-based Paul Keating quote is to draw our attention to the need to focus the national discussion on this, not the costs and challenges of decarbonising our current economy (real as they are).
